Pure Life Adventure has included an additional weekly individual session with licensed or masters level therapists to help students adopt tools and strategies they can use beyond their time in Costa Rica. This means each student will receive two and up to three individual therapy sessions per week. Students respond so well to this program element, that Pure Life has expanded the individual therapy session element of the program to include additional individual sessions weekly.
Now students in the outdoor adventure therapy program can balance cultural immersion and outdoor activities like surfing, rappelling, white water rafting, hiking, horseback riding, and camping with a robust weekly schedule of 1-on-1 therapy sessions.
While Pure Life has always included confidence and perspective-building activities like service projects, student participation in preparing and cooking meals, caring for horses, group therapy, and more, they are excited to be able to give students additional time to work on their specific concerns and challenges with our licensed and masters level therapists.
Pure Life Adventure’s bicultural team provides a therapeutically sophisticated and holistic approach to helping adolescents with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, lack of motivation, executive function deficits, trauma, and substance abuse. Our students are individuals with genuine challenges looking for lasting change.
Many school-aged students struggled during Covid school closures and faced setbacks and stress due to the lack of connection with peers and social relationships, the absence of a traditional academic structure, and the increase in screen time and social media usage. Loss of academic and social momentum and increased anxiety and depression have been plaguing adolescents and young adults, post-Covid.
Pure Life Adventure uses researched-based techniques with integrated therapeutic models throughout its adventure therapy program. Based in Costa Rica, Pure Life’s adventure therapy program works with struggling adolescents and young adults to build self-efficacy, teach healthy coping strategies, behavioral and emotional regulation, leadership skills, and life skills that will allow participants to become independent and productive and successful adults.
